We Progress to the next qualifying event for the 2026 ESMBA national finals with the fours and mixed fours. This is being held at Grovelands primary school. All players are reminded to bring lunch and a mug if they wish to take advantage of the coffee and tea that will be provided.
NATIONAL FOURS
Please arrive at 0830 please to help set up and complete the draw to be able to start at 0900 promptly. All entrants must be signed in prior to the draw being made.
There are 6 Fours this year with a round robin league (each team will play one another). 5 games of 8 ends will take place to decide the top four placings. Games will be played over 3 mats, with comfort breaks. It’s estimated 45 mins per game so the Fours should take 4-5 hours.
NATIONAL MIXED FOURS
Please arrive by 12noon and check in. Games will begin on completion of the fours event.
There are 3 mixed fours this year, with a round robin league. Each team will play two games. This will decide the order of the teams. It’s estimated 45 mins for 8 ends so the mixed fours should be completed in 2.5 hours.
It is a long day for all, so please help pack away some of the equipment after the fours are completed that is not required for the mixed fours before you leave as this will help with the running of the day.
The ESMBA Dress Code is in force for all stages of the National Competitions – in all team events all players must be dressed in the same attire, i.e. White polo top/Matching coloured polo top, ESMBA approved County or Club Polo tops only – no other logos, initials or names are allowed unless in keeping with the size of the ESMBA logo and no bigger than the breast pocket on a shirt. Mid grey or black bottoms. NO JEANS OR CARGO/COMBAT TROUSERS ALLOWED. Footwear – only bowls shoes made by a recognised bowls manufacturer may be worn.
Allocations will be sent by ESMBA closer to the finals. Places depend on many factors and will be known closer to the finals.
The finals for the fours takes place on Saturday 11th April 2026 at Melton Mowbray IBC. The Mixed fours finals take place on Saturday 14th March at Melton Mowbray IBC.
